Enel X Romania, the advanced energy services division of the Enel Group, has completed the installation of three photovoltaic panel systems in the localities of Sebiş and Arad, following a total investment of over 500,000 euros, the company said in a statement.

Ignitis Gamyba, a company managed by the international energy company Ignitis Group, has completed the installation of a 3 MW solar power plant near Elektrėnai in Obeniai in Lithuania.

The government has adopted the “Electric Up” program, companies such as SMEs in the HoReCa field can access a non-reimbursable financing of up to 100,000 euros for the installation of photovoltaic panel systems and electric charging stations.

Romania launches the program to increasing energy efficiency and smart energy management in public buildings

The Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests announced the launch of a Program on increasing energy efficiency and intelligent energy management in public buildings for schools, funded by the Environment Fund. Through this program, schools and kindergartens in Romania can be thermally insulated and energy efficient.

Efficient Romania Forum: Which schools will be renovated through the largest private energy efficiency project

Despite the difficult context created by the pandemic, the Efficient Romania program, launched in June 2019 and developed by the Energy Policy Group (EPG) in partnership with OMV Petrom, will support the thorough renovation of five schools in Baicoi, Ovidiu, Cristuru Secuiesc, Drobeta-Turnu Severin and Vaslui.

Romania | The sessions for submitting the files within the Classic Scrap, Scrap Plus and Green Food Infrastructure Programs in the municipalities were extended

The Administration of the Environmental Fund extended the session for submitting the files for the acceptance of legal entities within the Program for stimulating the renewal of the National Car Park (Classic Scrap Program) and in the Program on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in transport, by promoting clean and energy efficient road transport (Rabla Plus Program) until 20 November 2020.




The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has launched an emergency support programme for infrastructure providers across its emerging economies to ensure the provision of vital services despite acute pressure from the coronavirus pandemic.


The original renewable energy directive (2009/28/EC) establishes an overall policy for the production and promotion of energy from renewable sources in the EU. It requires the EU to fulfil at least 20% of its total energy needs with renewables by 2020 – to be achieved through the attainment of individual national targets.

Vestas achieves record order from Poland

Vestas has secured a 36 MW order with ELAWAN Energy for four projects awarded at the Polish wind-solar-energy auction in December 2019. With this order, Vestas once again has supported its customers to succeed in competitive auctions and has now secured a total of more than 1.5 GW of onshore wind energy projects in Poland, since the country introduced its auction scheme in 2018.

Small Austrian town 100% renewable energy powered

Small Austrian town 100% renewable energy poweredThe Austrian community of Gussing says the successful story of a small town, with only 4.000 inhabitants, which 20 years ago had a poor economy, a huge rate of unemployment and most people living only from agriculture. Now it earns over 17 million dollars only from energy selling and it is completely energy self-sufficient.

When in 1988 the energy bill costs where 8 million dollars, some local leaders thought this amount could remain in the local budget if the town could generate its own electricity. In 1990 all the public buildings were isolated and the bulbs from the public lights were replaced with new energy-efficient ones.

Moldova | The Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline is almost ready

The Minister of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova, Sergiu Railean, inspected several construction sites of the Iasi-Ungheni-Chisinau gas pipeline, as well as the administrative complex of "Vestmoldtransgaz" in Ghidighici, the company carrying out the project. Its management informed that about 90% of the gas pipeline is ready.
